How to Be Okay with All This Going On: Get Some Rest
Are you sleeping?
I haven’t slept well since last week. I’m always a vivid dreamer, but these days I’m living movies even when I nap briefly. And, that of course leads to me being up in the middle of the night.
If it’s not the racing thoughts, it’s the endless scrolling through social media content. It’s that comeback that you’re dying to craft to whoever you’re arguing with. Not to mention we’re ending and starting our days with breaking news. Who can sleep at a time like this?
You can. I can. Or at least we should.
We need to sleep. We need to start making sleep an important aspect of living again. None of us can handle the weight of these days without it.
I’m not sure what you need to make that happen. Honestly, I think it starts with the intention to figure it out. Do you need a better bed or one of those weighted blankets everyone is raving about? Do you need to get a doctor to check out any apnea issues or a therapist to teach you how to keep your mind from racing? Less screentime? More yoga?
I’m as terrible at this as anyone. I make dinner too late, I watch movies after everyone has gone to sleep, then I doomscroll to fall asleep (more on that later too). But I want to change. Are you with me?
